During the school holidays, customers can donate pre-loved school uniforms, which are then redistributed within the local community to help families in need. This scheme also helps to reduce the amount of clothing that ends up in landfill whilst supporting those who cannot afford to purchase new school uniforms each year.
Food Donation Bag
Tesco also partners with food banks and community groups to support those struggling to purchase food due to the rising cost of living. One of the easiest ways to get involved is by picking up a donation bag while shopping. These bags are pre-filled with items needed by the community, making it an easier way to reduce hunger within the community.
Blue Token Scheme
To further support local causes, Tesco gives back to the community through their Blue Token scheme which gives customers the opportunity to support local charities, schools and community groups simply by voting in store.
Shoppers receive a blue token once they’ve completed their shop and can choose which local project they would like to support by placing their token into the relevant voting unit. The projects with the most votes receive funding to help them continue their valuable work.
