Handforth Dean Retail Park Awarded Highly Commended Status at  National Shopping Centre Award Dinner

On Wednesday 16th of November, Handforth Dean Retail Park, based in Cheshire, was awarded a highly commended status for Car Park of The Year at the 2022 SCEPTRE Awards dinner which took place in the Hilton London Bankside.

The SCEPTRE Awards dinner has become one of the industry’s annual highlights and has firmly established itself as the benchmark for excellence in all areas of shopping centre management. They are the pre-eminent accolade in the retail industry, putting the spotlight on management teams, retailers and suppliers that demonstrate real excellence.

The Car Park of the Year Award recognises innovation and excellence for a car park at a shopping centre, retail park, leisure park or outlet. The car park, which holds a Park Mark Safer Parking Award, has undergone significant improvements to enhance the customer shopping experience including the installation of electric car charge points, modernisation of the wayfinding signs, upgraded CCTV system and high-definition cameras.  The site car park lighting has been upgraded to LED to reduce energy usage (saving 160 tones of Co2) and costs.

The car park itself might not sound anything out of the ordinary, but it is the onsite team that made it stand out from other car parks. The team go above and beyond with their duties to ensure that the customers’ experience at Handforth Dean is always a good one, this has been demonstrated in the past by merit awards and the numerous compliments they receive.

Alan Wright, centre manager at Handforth Dean Retail Park  said: “I am so proud of the team here at Handforth Dean with their efforts to provide the best service possible in our car park and reducing our impact on the environment by saving 160 tones of Co2.”

He continues “Having our efforts acknowledged and being able to walk away from the award ceremony with a highly commended certificate means a lot to me and to the team.”
